American Education Week

In honor of American Education Week, I wanted to thank our entire community for your support of Pinnacle High School.  We are at the top of US public schools because of a collaborative effort between students, parents, staff, and community.  As a school, we are so fortunate to play a role in helping the PHS parents raise outstanding young people, who will one day lead us to continued greatness.

Thank you for all you do and for your support of Pinnacle High School and public education.

Welcome to Arizona's Best Public High School

PHS Parents,

We had an unbelievable start to the school year.  Our teachers and support staff worked incredibly hard to make sure your sons and daughters were in class and learning from the opening bell at PHS.

With only 180 days to accomplish our learning goals, our teachers are not wasting any time getting into the new material.  This year we are focusing on nurturing the relationships our community needs to remain one of the highest performing schools in the country.  We rely on our parents to stay in close communication with our teachers and staff and provide us with information to help your child be successful.  Your first opportunity to meet your teachers will be next Thursday, August 26 from 6:00-8:00.  Your child will be bringing home information early next week to help you plan for the evening.

As always, thank you for your tremendous support and I look forward to seeing you at Open House.

Making It Count - Change Maker!

Our Change Maker fund raiser to support the Paradise Valley Education Foundation was an enormous success.  We raised over $2000.00 and won the friendly competition with Horizon High School.  Congratulations to Ms. Tommasino's science classes for raising the most money at PHS and Ms. Mihalic's classes for coming in second place.

This event would not have been successful without the support  of our parents.  Kelly LaPorte did a fantastic job organizing the event and was instrumental in its success. We also had some VERY generous parents who put in more than just the change in their pockets.

Way to go Pioneers!

Mock Car Accident

This Thursday, April 29th, we will be staging a mock car accident in cooperation with Mothers Awareness on School-age Kids, Phoenix Police, Phoenix Fire and Air Evac.  We will follow this up with an assembly for juniors and seniors where we will discuss the importance of making good decisions while driving.  We hope to bring greater awareness to our entire school community regarding safe driving and that it will encourage conversations around your dinner table about making good decisions.

This event may cause some delays getting into school on Thursday morning so please take this into consideration when making plans.

Parents of Pinnacle - POP Star Applications

Each year Parents of Pinnacle (POP) sponsor approximately fifteen $500 scholarships for graduating seniors.  The only requirement for a student to apply is that they are able to explain what makes them a "POP Star" at PHS.  It can be anything from school spirit to academic prowess.  We have seniors apply who have done extraordinary things for the community or are involved in several different clubs, activities, or sports.  All it takes to apply is to pick up an application from counseling, fill it out, and get it turned in by the end of school this Friday, April 9.

We all owe Parents of Pinnacle a big thank you for all they do for PHS and for sponsoring these wonderful scholarships that will help our seniors move on to college.

Infinite Campus Replaces POGB

Starting today the PVUSD online grading reporting system, POGB, is frozen.  It is being replaced with a new student information system called Infinite Campus.   Your teachers are working feverishly to transfer grades from POGB to Infinite Campus, so please be patient as they make this change.

The new system will be available to parents and students starting Feb. 23.  This means that the next grade updates will not occur until that date.   Please visit our website http://cmweb.pvschools.net/phsweb/  for the link to Infinite Campus.  The login information will remain the same as POGB but, again, will not be available until Feb. 23.

Thank you for your patience and I hope the new system will serve as a better resource for students, teachers, staff, and the parents of Pinnacle High School.

Parents of Pinnacle (POP) General Meeting

One of the great things about Pinnacle High School is the incredible relationship that the school has with our parents.  We are one of the best schools in the country because of the work that POP does and the support that they provide our school.

Parents of Pinnacle will be hosting their next general meeting on Tuesday, January 26th in the PHS Media Center.  The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm and the agenda is full.  Along with a presentation and discussion on the opportunities of Career and Technical Education in PVUSD, I will be there to talk about Pinnacle, answer questions, and give an update on the impact we might see as a result of the continued cut to education at the state level.

I encourage you to come and be part of Parents and Pinnacle and learn more about our district and school.
